Itinerary
We begin our 6-day tour from Marrakesh to Casablanca with an 8:00 AM departure after breakfast. We head south through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic views of dramatic peaks, terraced fields, and Berber villages. Our first stop is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic kasbahs. You’ll explore its ancient earthen architecture and learn about its rich history and cultural significance. Afterward, we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the kasbah. In the afternoon, we continue to Ouarzazate—known as the “Hollywood of Africa”—where you can visit the famous Atlas Film Studios and discover its cinematic legacy. We then drive through the fragrant Rose Valley, famed for its springtime rose harvest, before arriving in Boumalne Dades. Check into your riad or hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we depart Boumalne Dades and head toward the Sahara Desert. En route, we stop in Tinghir to visit the breathtaking Todra Gorge—a narrow canyon flanked by towering red cliffs with a crystal-clear river running through it. You’ll learn about the local irrigation systems and see the lush palm groves lining the valley. Following a short break, we continue to a traditional restaurant in a small town for lunch, a favorite among travelers. After lunch, we drive to Erfoud, the last major town before the desert. From there, we proceed to Merzouga, where camels and guides await. You’ll mount your camel for a scenic ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, pausing to watch the sunset and capture photos. As night falls, we arrive at a comfortable desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with mint tea, a traditional dinner, Berber music around a fire, and an unforgettable night under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early to witness the desert sunrise, followed by breakfast at the camp. We then begin our exploration of the surrounding desert landscape, visiting nomadic families to learn about their resilient way of life and deep connection to the Sahara. Next, we travel to the village of Khamlia, home to descendants of Sub-Saharan communities, where you’ll enjoy a live Gnawa music performance—a spiritual and rhythmic tradition rooted in African heritage. We’ll also visit a small desert lake that serves as a vital water source for local communities. Afterward, we return to Merzouga for lunch at a restaurant in the town center, followed by free time for a short walk. In the afternoon, we transfer to Hassi Labied (just 5 km from Merzouga), where we spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad.
After breakfast, we leave the desert behind and begin our journey north. We pass through the scenic Draa Valley—Morocco’s longest oasis—stopping for photos amid its endless palm groves. Continuing through the Ziz Valley, we enter the Middle Atlas Mountains via the Zaabel Tunnel between Errachidia and Midelt. We pause in Midelt for lunch and to learn about this “apple capital” of Morocco. In the afternoon, we reach the cedar forests of Azrou, where wild Barbary macaques roam freely—perfect for a short stop and photos. We then drive to Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture and pristine streets. Here, we visit the famous stone lion statue and admire the town’s unique charm. After a brief stay, we continue to Fes, arriving in the late afternoon. Check into your riad and relax after a long but scenic day.
After breakfast, we meet your local Fes guide for a comprehensive walking tour of Morocco’s oldest imperial city. Over 3–4 hours, you’ll explore the UNESCO-listed medina, including the Royal Palace gates, the historic Jewish Mellah, the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University (founded in 859 AD), the vibrant Chouara Tanneries, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. You’ll also witness traditional artisans at work—potters, metalworkers, and weavers—keeping centuries-old crafts alive. The tour concludes around noon, after which you’ll return to your riad for a relaxed afternoon.
On the final day of our 6-day journey, we depart Fes early and take the most efficient route to Casablanca (approximately 4 hours). Upon arrival, we visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque—the largest mosque in Africa and the third-largest in the Arab world. Perched dramatically on a platform over the Atlantic Ocean, it features exquisite mosaics, carved plaster, and a retractable roof. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome on guided tours (modest dress required), which last about 90 minutes. After the visit, we enjoy lunch before transferring you to your hotel in Casablanca for your final night. With this, our 6-day tour from Marrakesh to Casablanca comes to a close. We wish you safe travels and unforgettable memories of Morocco.
