Enjoy a traditional welcome dinner of pastilla or tagine.
Dedicate the day to deep cultural discovery. Tour the Royal Palace gates, the Jewish Mellah, and the historic Karaouine University—the world’s oldest operating university. In the evening, enjoy a cooking class or Andalusian music performance.
Drive west through the Rif Mountains to **Chefchaouen**, the enchanting “Blue City.” Wander its cobalt-washed streets, framed by bougainvillea and mountain vistas. Capture golden-hour photos from the Kasbah terrace and savor fresh goat cheese and mint tea in a rooftop café.
Morning at leisure for photography, shopping for woolens, or a short hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views. Return to Fes in the afternoon for a relaxed evening.
Begin your epic desert journey. Travel south through **Ifrane** (“Morocco’s Switzerland”), the cedar forests of **Azrou** (watch for Barbary macaques), **Midelt**, and the dramatic **Ziz Valley**. Arrive in **Merzouga** by late afternoon. Ride camels into the **Erg Chebbi dunes** for sunset, then settle into a luxury desert camp under a star-filled sky with Berber music and dinner.
Wake for a magical **sunrise over the dunes**, followed by breakfast at camp. Optional activities: 4×4 dune excursion, visit a nomadic family, or relax in the shade of desert palms. Return to Merzouga village for lunch, then explore **Khamlia** for Gnawa music or visit a fossil workshop in **Erfoud**.
Depart the desert and head west through **Rissani** (historic trading town) and **Tinejdad**. Stop at the dramatic **Todra Gorge**, where towering red cliffs rise 300 meters. Hike along the riverbed, then enjoy dinner at a local guesthouse with views of the canyon walls.
Journey along the scenic **Route of a Thousand Kasbahs**. Pass through **Tinghir**, with its lush palm groves, and stop at the **Dades Gorge**. Visit the “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and enjoy panoramic views from a cliffside café. Overnight in a traditional kasbah-style hotel.

Explore the UNESCO site of **Aït Ben Haddou**, a perfectly preserved ksar featured in films like *Gladiator* and *Game of Thrones*. Then, cross the **High Atlas Mountains** via the **Tizi n’Tichka Pass** (2,260m), stopping for breathtaking views. Descend toward **Marrakech**, arriving by late afternoon.
Discover Marrakech’s vibrant soul: the **Bahia Palace**, **Saadian Tombs**, **Koutoubia Mosque**, and the bustling **Jemaa el-Fna square**. Lose yourself in the souks for spices, lanterns, and leather. End the day with mint tea on a rooftop overlooking the medina.
Travel west to the coastal gem of **Essaouira**, a UNESCO-listed port city with Portuguese ramparts and a laid-back vibe. Stroll the Skala de la Ville, browse artisan woodcraft shops, and listen to Gnaoua street musicians. Enjoy fresh grilled sardines by the harbor.
Relax on the windswept beach, try windsurfing, or visit the historic **Mellah** and **Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah Museum**. Optional: camel ride along the dunes near Diabat. Enjoy a farewell seafood dinner as the sun sets over the Atlantic.
