Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, our driver/guide will meet you and begin our 10-day tour from Casablanca. We’ll first visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque—the largest mosque in Morocco and one of the most impressive religious structures in Africa. This architectural masterpiece features intricate tilework, carved cedar wood, and a retractable roof. After the visit, we’ll transfer to Rabat, Morocco’s capital city, where you’ll spend your first night in a comfortable hotel or riad.

After breakfast, we’ll explore Rabat’s historic landmarks, including the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas. Then we’ll depart for Chefchaouen through the picturesque Rif Mountains. We’ll stop in the charming town of Ouazzan for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing through winding mountain roads to Chefchaouen. Arriving in the afternoon, you’ll check into your accommodation and have time to explore the medina’s blue-washed streets and relax as the sun sets over this enchanting city.

This morning, we drive to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in North Africa. Your guide will explain the history of this 2,000-year-old city as you explore its impressive mosaics, bathhouses, and temples. Afterward, we continue to Meknes, where we’ll visit the magnificent Bab Mansour gate, the Royal Palace entrance, and the Heri es-Souani granaries—once capable of storing food for 12,000 horses. Following a guided tour of Meknes, we’ll complete our journey to Fes for dinner and overnight stay.

Spend a full day discovering Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. Your local guide will lead you through the labyrinthine medina—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—visiting the Al-Qarawiyyin University (the world’s oldest continuously operating university), the Chouara Tanneries, and the Royal Palace gates. You’ll also see Borj Nord, a 16th-century fortress offering panoramic views of the city. The afternoon is free to explore independently or shop for traditional crafts before returning to your accommodation.

After breakfast, we depart Fes and head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. We’ll stop in Ifrane—”Moroccan Switzerland”—before reaching the cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild Barbary macaques. Continuing through the Ziz Valley, we’ll pause for lunch in Errachidia before arriving at Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara. As afternoon turns to evening, we’ll mount camels for a sunset ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. We’ll arrive at our desert camp in time for dinner, Berber music, and an unforgettable night under the stars.

Today we explore the desert beyond the dunes. We’ll visit Khamlia village, home to descendants of sub-Saharan communities, where you’ll enjoy a live Gnawa music performance. We’ll also see the salt and mascara mines of Mfis, experience nomadic life in traditional camel-hair tents, and visit the seasonal Dayet Srij lake and the small oasis of Merzouga. Lunch will be served in a Berber home, followed by a return to your accommodation where you can relax and watch the sunset.

Wake early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise before breakfast. We’ll drive through the Dades Valley, passing countless kasbahs and traditional Berber villages, to the Todra Gorges—towering red cliffs carved by the Todra River. These dramatic canyon walls, featured in films like *The Jewel of the Nile*, create a spectacular natural landscape. After a short walk through the gorge, we’ll continue to the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight stay in a local hotel or riad.

We’ll begin the day with panoramic views of the Dades Valley before driving through the fragrant Rose Valley to Ouarzazate—the “Hollywood of Africa.” Here, we’ll visit the famous Atlas Film Studios before continuing to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has appeared in films like *Gladiator* and *Lawrence of Arabia*. After lunch, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), stopping for views and to visit an Argan Oil Cooperative. We’ll arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Spend your final full day exploring Marrakech with a local guide. Visit the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, the vibrant Majorelle Garden, and the Saadian Tombs—16th-century royal mausoleums adorned with intricate mosaics. After lunch, you’ll have time to explore the souks, where you can find traditional babouches (leather slippers), spices, and leather goods. In the evening, witness the magic of Jemaa el-Fna Square, alive with storytellers, musicians, and food stalls. Dinner and overnight in Marrakech.

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to your departure airport—either Marrakech Menara Airport or Casablanca Mohammed V Airport—depending on your flight schedule. This concludes our 10-day journey through Morocco’s imperial cities, mountain landscapes, and the golden Sahara Desert.
