Upon arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, you will be transferred to your riad or hotel. If you arrive early in the morning, you may have the opportunity to explore Marrakech on your own. Otherwise, your guided sightseeing will be scheduled for your return at the end of the 7-day desert tour. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant, and you’ll spend the night in a charming riad or hotel, setting a romantic tone for the journey ahead.

Our 7-day itinerary from Marrakech begins with an early departure from your accommodation. We ascend through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters above sea level), making stops to admire panoramic views of dramatic gorges, terraced fields, and Berber villages. We then visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou—a stunning fortified ksar that has featured in major films and series such as *Gladiator*, *The Mummy*, *Alexander*, and *Game of Thrones*. After lunch near the kasbah, we continue through the fragrant Rose Valley and into the dramatic Dades Valley, where we spend our first night. Dinner and breakfast are included at your accommodation.

After breakfast, we drive from the Dades Valley to the Todra Gorges—one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural wonders. Here, towering canyon walls rise nearly 300 meters, offering excellent photo opportunities and short walks along the riverbed. We then continue southeast through Berber villages, passing through Tinjdad and Touroug before reaching Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and as the gateway to the Sahara. By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We check into a hotel or riad for dinner and an overnight stay.

Following a traditional Moroccan breakfast, we embark on a 4×4 excursion into the Erg Chebbi dunes. The tour includes visits to remote desert oases, nomadic encampments, and small Saharan villages, offering insight into the daily lives of desert-dwelling families. A highlight is a stop in Khamlia, a village founded by descendants of enslaved people from Mali, where you’ll enjoy an authentic Gnawa music performance accompanied by mint tea. In the late afternoon, you’ll mount camels for a 90-minute ride deep into the dunes to witness a breathtaking sunset. Afterward, you’ll be welcomed at a luxury nomadic camp with a hearty dinner, Berber drumming, and an unforgettable night under a sky ablaze with stars.

After breakfast, we depart Merzouga and follow the legendary Dakar Rally route through vast desert landscapes. We pause at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking endless dunes and hardy desert vegetation. Continuing to the village of Taouz, we rejoin the rally track toward Ouzina—an ancient Berber settlement near the Algerian border, known for its striking dunes and traditional lifestyle. After exploring Ouzina, we drive to Ramlia for lunch. In the afternoon, we head to Tafraoute Sidi Ali, a region noted for its mineral and metal deposits. We spend the night in a local Berber guesthouse with dinner and breakfast included.

We begin the day with breakfast before driving through the Oumjrane area toward Zagora, a historic desert town once a key stop on trans-Saharan trade routes. After lunch in Zagora, we proceed to Agdz and then visit Tamnougalt—a picturesque oasis and kasbah in the Draa Valley, surrounded by lush palm groves and overlooked by Jebel Kissane. This well-preserved 17th-century kasbah offers a glimpse into traditional Saharan architecture and life. We then continue to Ouarzazate, where we spend the night.

On the final day of our 7-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert, we start with a visit to the famous Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate—the largest film studio in Africa and a hub for international cinema. We then travel through the scenic Ounila Valley to Telouet, home to the imposing Glaoui Kasbah, once the stronghold of one of Morocco’s most powerful feudal families. After lunch at a local restaurant in the village, we begin our return journey to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. We cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass once more, descending through dramatic mountain scenery before arriving in Marrakech in the evening. You’ll be dropped off at your accommodation, concluding a memorable week-long journey through Morocco’s deserts, mountains, and historic treasures.
